SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I am fascinated by microglia, astrocytes and neurons, particularly by their complex interactions. I would like to explore their underlying molecular mechanisms in more detail, especially in the context of neuroinflammatory and/or neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis. How exactly do they contribute to disease processes and to what extent could they offer potential therapeutic approaches? Additionally, I am interested in advanced neuromodelling systems as alternatives to animal models and in developing alternative research approaches. I am further interested in the interface between neuroscience and clinical medicine, including research using human-derived samples and approaches that may contribute to individualised therapeutic interventions. At the same time, I am open to other fields within neuroscience and hope to gain many further insights and experiences.
