A18 Asteroseismology and dynamos in solar-like stars

Asteroseismology offers prospects to measure important ingredients of stellar dynamos, including aspects of the global dynamics of stars. In this project, we aim to infer bulk rotation, as well as the latitudinal and radial differential rotation of solar-like stars. Procedures to measure and invert frequencies of solar-like oscillations will be developed and tested on artificial data and solar observations. In addition we will study the effect of surface magnetic activity on low-degree acoustic modes using numerical simulations. A code to simulate wave-propagation through 3D magnetized stellar interiors will be developed and tested on solar observations.
