Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet the academic admission requirements for the M.Sc. Crop Protection.
Basic academic requirement
For admission, applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural sciences, biology or a related discipline from an accredited university. The Bachelor’s degree must usually comprise at least six semesters (3 years) and 180 ECTS credits.
Subject-specific requirements
A Bachelor’s degree is considered relevant if the applicant has completed sufficient coursework in plant sciences and crop protection-related subjects.
  • At least 60 ECTS credits must have been completed in the field of plant sciences.
  • Of these, at least 24 ECTS credits must be related to crop production, plant breeding or plant nutrition.
  • In addition, at least 10 ECTS credits must be related to phytomedicine, for example crop protection, phytopathology, agricultural entomology or herbology.

Selection criteria
Admission is based on the applicant’s academic record and suitability for the programme.
  • Grade point average: A minimum grade point average of 2.5 according to the German grading system, or an equivalent grade, is required.
  • Educational background: The relevance of previous studies and completed coursework will be assessed.
  • Additional qualifications: Relevant professional experience, internships, practical training or additional academic qualifications may be considered.
  • Motivation: The applicant’s motivation for studying Crop Protection will be taken into account.

Further requirements
In addition to the academic admission requirements, applicants must also meet the language requirements and submit all required application documents. Applicants should also make sure that they can meet the financial requirements for studying in Germany.
