SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I am interested in research which lies at the intersection of biophysics and molecular/cellular neuroscience and I would like to combine experimental techniques with computational modelling as part of my future research. More specifically, I am interested in ion channels, neuronal signaling, sensory transduction, and neural coding mechanisms and computations. I am interested in the intrinsic electrical and physiological properties of ion channels and how they encode and regulate information. Furthermore, I am interested in how these electrical / biophysical properties are influenced by synaptic plasticity, neuromodulation, and homeostasis in complex networks and systems. I also have a budding interest in the neuroscience of consciousness.
