Universität divers − Diskriminierungsschutz im Fokus

Project within the framework of the funding initiative "Diversity at German Universities" by the BMBF and HRK.

In its diversity policy, the University of Göttingen focuses on the connection between the realisation of equal opportunities and protection against discrimination. Since winter semester 2022/23, the University has developed a concept for protection against discrimination, which was approved by the Senate in July 2023 and adopted by the Presidential Board. In order to ensure that protection against discrimination is practical, targeted and effective, it is necessary to further develop the existing knowledge base and to collect current data on the diversity of the university's members and staff, as well as on their experiences of discrimination.

This is the goal of the University of Göttingen's project "Universität divers - Diskriminierungsschutz im Fokus" ("Diverse University - Focus on Protection against Discrimination"), which is funded as one of 33 projects nationwide and as the only project in Lower Saxony within the framework of the nationwide initiative "Diversity at German Universities" of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). In the grant period from 01 June 2023 to 30 April 2024, two focal points will be implemented in the project:

  • Full survey on diversity and discrimination among all university members and staff
  • Information campaign on protection against discrimination
