Introduction to gro.data and the CRC 1528 data catalogue
Nov 22, 2024, online
Peter Kiraly (eRA) and Christian Schloegl introduce the data catalogue of the CRC and explain the possibilities gro.data is offering also beyond the scope of the CRC.

Third Göttingen Neural Networking Day
Nov 8th, 2024, 10 AM - 5 PM
The Göttingen Neural Networking Days were launched and are organised by SFB-PI Viola Priesemann and take place at the MPI Campus "Am Faßberg". The aim of the annual networking day is to bring together everyone from the Göttingen Campus interested in Neuroscience, from molecules to mind. The SFB 1528 will be massively featured at the networking days, with presentations by SFB PIs Anne Schacht and Alex Gail as well as associated member Fabian Sinz. Everyone is welcome and prior registration is appreciated to plan coffee and food.

Data Simulation for linear models in R
Oct 7-24, 2024, Old lecture hall, German Primate Center
In this three-week workshop, Roger Mundy teaches how to simulate data in a framework of linear models. Simulated data has the advantage that the “truth” is known. Hence, one can compare what a model reveals with truth. The perhaps most well-known use of simulated data is 'power analysis', i.e. determining the probability of an analysis to reveal significance, given a certain effect and sample size, an alpha level, and a test. However, it can also be used to test, for instance, if a method is working as planned, how an analysis behaves if assumptions are violated, or to estimate the width of confidence intervals.
The workshop is organised in collaboration with the Leibniz ScienceCampus Primate Cognition is appreciated to plan coffee and food.

SFB Retreat 2024
Retreat, Aug 21-23
The retreat is an annual fixture and gives all SFB members to discuss about the developments of the previous year and the plans for the following year. This year's retreat was held at the University Conference Center at the Historical Observatory.

Primate Cognitive Neuroscience Summer School
July 28-August 9, Gustav Stresemann Institute, Bad Bevensen
Organizers: Hansjörg Scherberger, Alexander Gail, Igor Kagan, Raymundo Báez-Mendoza and Stefan Treue
The Primate Cognitive Neuroscience Summer School series has been running since 2019 and will now take place for the third time in summer 2024. The Summer School focuses on cognitive processes in sensory and motor neuroscience in primates, with special relevance given to social contexts and decision-making processes. Animal welfare, ethical issues in neuroscientific research on primates and scientific communication will also be covered. In addition to the teaching units, the lecturers are also available for individual discussions on research projects, career development issues and scientific networking. All participants will also present their research on posters. The event is aimed at doctoral students and postdocs with an interest in cognitive and systemic neuroscience with non-human primates. The Summer School is a joint event of the Leibniz ScienceCampus Primate Cognition, the SFB 1528 Cognition of Interaction, and the German Primate Center.  -> Further information and registration

The visual primates that we are: 'Learning by watching' in children and monkeys
Workshop at the IEEE International Conference on Development and Learning, Austin (Texas, USA), May 20
This workshop is organised by SFB members Neda Shahidi and Nivedita Mani together with Melissa Franch (Baylor College of Medicine, Houston) and will bring together developmental psychologists and cognitive neuroscientists to discuss recent developments in learning research in primates. The workshop will close with a panel discussion on designing artificial agents to interact with human and non-human primates. The workshop will take place in Austin, Texas. Details can be found on the workshop website.
Data Simulation for linear models in R
Mar 4-24, 2024, Old lecture hall, German Primate Center
Roger Mundry’s annual three week workshop introduces linear models and their application for biostatistical analyses using R. Participants learn various statistical models from simple regression to Generalized Linear Mixed Models, and how to visualize their data. A focus is laid on understanding model assumptions and diagnostics. The workshop is part lecture, part hands-on session with excercises.
Registration is required through the workshop website.
The workshop is organised in collaboration with the Leibniz ScienceCampus Primate Cognition.
