SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I admire the ability of cells to adapt to very different endo- and exogenous stimuli. It is fascinating to understand the highly complex networks of so many proteins within a cell and cells within an organism and to examine the conditions under which these robust systems break down. Therefore, I am, for example, interested in DNA repair, cell cycle regulation and cancerogenesis as well as in the system of immune cells balancing between defense against pathogens and autoimmune inflammation.
