SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

Besides my overall fascination for the human brain, I am interested in neurodegenerative diseases and their immunological aspects. I want to investigate the role of the microglia in the development and progression of neurodegenerative diseases. In a society that is constantly getting older, diseases like Alzheimer’s disease are a major societal challenge. There is a need for further research in this area e.g. to overcome greater problems in elderly care.
