Maliha Jerin Propa

Education

I completed my Bachelor major in Botany and minor in Biochemistry, Zoology, Biostatistics and Soil Science from the Department of Botany, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Following that, I received Master’s degree in Botany from the Ecology and Environment Laboratory, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. F urthermore, I joined as a research assistant after my M.Sc. in the same laboratory. Topic of my Master’s thesis: “Carbon stock and soil respiration of differen t Sal forests situated at Cumilla and Gazipur distric t s of Bangladesh”

PhD Research Project

I joined as a doctoral candidate in the RTG 2300, subproject 3: “Soil greenhouse gas fluxes and nutrient response efficiency”. The main objective is to assess the global warming potential of monospecific forests (beech, Douglas fir) compared to mixed forests (beech with Douglas fir). Furthermore, this work will evaluate how monospecific forest stands and stands of mixed species will affect the nutrient response eff iciency (NRE). This research aims to assess whether the mixture of beech with conifer affects the greenhouse gas balance and nutrient response efficiencies of trees compared to their mono species stands.
