Research Area C: How are we curious?

I graduated with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Psychology from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. During these degrees, I gained my interest in neuroscience, and in my Master thesis my first experience with EEG. After an internship at the KU Leuven, I joined the IMPRS Neuroscience Graduate Program in Göttingen and attained a M.Sc. in Neuroscience. During this, I have had the opportunity for three lab rotations. My Master thesis was about the differences in connectivity in expectation violations.

"Neural systems underlying curiosity-driven sampling of perceptual information"

My PhD research focuses on how we sample information and learn about structure in the environment. For this, I am investigating changes in pupil size as a function of information in the environment. I will also make use of electroretinogram and EEG to distinguish adaptations on the level of the eye and the brain.

Broadly, I am curious in how we build our perception of the world. Within this, I am interested in topics like predictive processing and active sensing.
