SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

The interest and motivation to pursue advanced study in neurosciences stems from my fascination with the whole idea of how neurons through their electrical and chemical interplay give rise to behavior, cognition, and conscious, and how brain maps to an elevated state known as the mind. I believe that biological research should be towards greater synthesis and integration of explanations across different disciplines. In this regard, I strongly feel that learning neuroscience provides an excellent opportunity to achieve and appreciate an integrative approach (biophysical, chemical, psychological and computational) to studying and understanding the living world. In particular, I will be happy to be a part of science that helps to elucidate the molecular and neural basis of cognition and behavior. I feel that, in future, further in roads can be made towards treating disorders affecting the human cognition and behavior once their underlying molecular and neural mechanisms have been well understood. Besides that I am also interested in evolutionary aspects of cognition, behavior, and language.
