PhD Position: Soil Geography/Geohydrology
Activities: Subproject 01 – Analysis and regionalization of soil degradation and catchment hydrology
Salary: 50 % of german TV-L 13
Duration: 3 years
The key foci of research are (a) to analyse soil degradation at the regional scale with GIS-application, (b) to set up and to supervise catchment instrumentation for continuous water- and matter fluxes, (c) to analyse hydrochemical data with a C-turnover and matter output focus and (d) to prepare modelling parameter for WASIM-ETH water balance simulations. Research regions are: Central a. North Mato Grosse, South Pará.
Requirements:
- Master or Diploma degree in the field of physical geography, geo-ecology, landscape ecology or hydrology
- Good knowledge in hydrochemical or geo-ecological fieldwork, statistics and GIS and soil parameter regionalisation
- Good communication skills in English language, a commitment to team work and knowledge in Portuguese are additional assets
