SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I am interested in studying the protein dynamics behind synaptic plasticity. Specifically, I intend to investigate the proteins involved in the modulation of excitatory and inhibitory synapses and ascertain how the function of such proteins is compromised in neurodegenerative diseases. Classification of proteins involved in synapse modulation could serve as a tool for identifying early signs of neuronal degeneration such as synaptic retraction, and could potentially aid in early intervention against neurodegenerative diseases.
