Professors West and Piller

Prof. Dr. Joel West is Professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the Department of Organization and Management in the College of Business at San José State University. His research focuses on open innovation, on the entrepreneurial opportunities in high-technology industries, and the institutions for cooperation and coordination that mediate such opportunities. Recent research has focused on open source software and compatibility standards related to information and communications technologies.

Prof. Dr. Frank T. Piller is a professor of management and director of the Technology & Innovation Management Group of RWTH Aachen University, Germany. He also is an Executive Faculty Member of the MIT Smart Customization Group at the MIT Design Lab, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Frank Piller has been building a worldwide reputation on research about strategies of customer-centric value creation like Mass Customization, Personalization, User Innovation, and Customer Co-Creation to manage heterogeneous customer demands more efficiently.
