SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I'm interested in exploring the field of non-coding RNAs (ncRNA), especially in diseases like cancer. Once believed as being useless, ncRNAs (miRNAs, circRNAs, lncRNAs) have been identified in almost every part of our body. ncRNAs are only recently discovered, and their structural and functional roles are yet to be fully explored. But one thing we know is that ncRNAs have the capability to regulate key signaling pathways that change the fate of the cells. What fascinates me more is using these molecules as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. My goal is to contribute in understanding these key molecules and how they can be engineered to be used as therapeutics for cancer. Nonetheless, I believe in not limiting myself to a single scientific area and would be open to exploring exciting research opportunities.
