Crystal curvature unit (monochromator) for "DAS PUMA" at the FRM-II in Garching (rear view)
The PUMA instrument at the FRM II in Garching is characterised by a high neutron flux, which results from the efficient use of focusing techniques in neutron beam guidance. The monochromators developed in our workshop are, among many other developments, an element of these focussing techniques.
High-precision machine couplings for attaching the individual monochromators ensure optimum alignment after the monochromator change without additional readjustment.
Three monochromators, PG(002), Cu(220) and Cu(111) are currently available.
