SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

My research interest is in the field of Human Molecular Genetics especially related to human diseases, their causes and different approaches to new therapies. I would like to deal with apoptotic and neuroprotective signaling pathways in order to identify the specific molecular triggers of neuronal apoptosis in different neurodegenerative disorders with the aim of developing drugs that interact with and block the cell death cascade. I am also interested in oxidative stress, calcium regulation, aging, synaptic signaling and plasticity.
