Insight into one research project

A transcription factor binding site (TFBS) is a sequence site in the DNA where regulatory proteins can bind to. A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in a TFBS can change the binding affinity. The upper strand shows the reference allele where the transcription factor (TF) can bind to the DNA, the lower strand shows the alternate allele where the binding is disabled.
