SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

Learning about basic principles of neuroscience triggered my excitement to study further concepts about the cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern biological events from a single neuron to the level of neural circuits. I am fascinated how combinations of interdisciplinary approaches such as functional imaging, optogenetics, electrophysiological recordings, molecular genetics, and quantitative behavioral assays reveal the complex structures of neural formations. I am particularly interested in how the chemosensory world is represented in the brain and how this regulates different behaviors. Also, working to understand the neural changes that are responsible for neurological diseases and synaptic transmission are very appealing to me.
