Water jet cutting

A water jet system from STM has been part of our machine park since 2013.

JetMax HS 1020 Premium 3D waterjet cutting system

Working area:

  • x-axis (traverse) 2002 mm
  • y-axis 1002 mm
  • z-axis 300 mm
  • A/B axis (inclination of cutting head) +/- 46°

  • Contact surface: (Sheet material)

    • X,Y 2100 x 1100mm

In principle, almost all materials can be cut with a water jet. However, the focus is on processing steel, stainless steel, aluminium, non-ferrous metal, glass, stone and tiles, seals, plastics and composite materials. This is because the advantages of cold cutting technology can be utilised most efficiently in this area.

    Areas of application
Textiles, elastomers, fibres, thinner plastics, foodstuffs, paper, thermoplastics etc. are cut with a pure water jet at feed speeds of up to 200 m/min. In pure water cutting technology, the core jet of pure water cuts the workpiece.

The abrasive cutting process is used for cutting compact and hard materials, such as all metals, hard stone, armoured glass, ceramics, etc. To generate an abrasive water jet, an abrasive agent is added to the water in a mixing chamber in the cutting head. Due to the high jet speed, a vacuum is created in the cutting head, which sucks the abrasive into the mixing chamber and mixes it with the water. The water-abrasive mixture is then focussed and accelerated by an abrasive nozzle.

    Advantages of waterjet cutting:
    1. No tool distortion
    2. No hardening
    3. High accuracy

The following drawing formats can be converted and imported into the machine software: DXF, DWG
