The Faculty introduces itself

The University of Göttingen (Georg-August-Universität) was founded in 1737 in the spirit of the Enlightenment. The movement had a decisive influence also upon the Faculty of Theology which, according to the custom of the time, was the first among the faculties in Göttingen. In the 18th and 19th centuries, as with the entire University, the Faculty was marked by a pragmatic and historical approach to the disciplines. more...

From July 6 to July 10, 2015, the 6th International Septuaginta Summer School (topic: From Language to Social Context: The Pentateuch and later traditions) will be held in Göttingen.

Lecturer is Dr. James Aitken, Lecturer in Hebrew, Old Testament and Second Temple Studies at the Faculty of Divinity of the University of Cambridge/UK, on the editorial board of the "Historical and Theological Lexicon of the Septuagint" and co-editor of the "Bulletin of Judaeo-Greek Studies". more...
