Career Orientation Option: The Literature and Culture Industries

Interested in learning about the book business? For the most part, students of literature only look 'inside' books: they learn how to analyse literature and how to contextualise their findings. For a great many (other) people, books are there to be enjoyed, to be read and used, and authors are not abstract entities but real people with lives of their own, with opinions and experiences, and many readers enjoy meeting them in person. Books are not just about plot, they constitute a huge industry. This side is what the Literary and Cultural Management modules offered by the Anglophone Literature and Culture division encourages students to look at and experience. Once every semester the module options are introduced in an information workshop, as announced in the SEP Events Calendar, through the mailing lists and the Department's social media.
