Project: SIGNAL - Sustainable intensification of agriculture through agroforestry funded by the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF)
Topic: "Carbon pools and fluxes in the rhizosphere of agroforestry systems" (TP 3.1)
Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Yakov Kuzyakov

Objectives:

  • Pools and fluxes of Carbon (C) in soil under short rotation coppice systems

  • Activity and kinetics of enzymes responsible for C, N, P and S cycles

  • Composition of microbial groups depending on depth and distance from the short rotation coppice strip

  • C input by roots and rhizodeposition into soil for young trees, grasses and crops
