PhD project: Evapotranspiration from tropical mosaic landscapes

The project aims for a better understanding of evapotranspiration (ET) characteristics in tropical landscapes. Those landscapes are often composed of a mosaic of different land-use systems, such as monoculture plantations (e.g. oil palm, teak), mixed agroforestry systems and native forests. ET is possibly affected by factors such as edges, vegetation structure and landscape composition. ET can be assessed by various approaches on different spatial and temporal scales, each having certain advantages and disadvantages. In this project UAV based data collected by myself will be combined with publicly available space borne data (ECOSTRESS) and ground based data (Eddy flux tower) from other working groups. We plan to conduct research in Sumatra as part of the EFForTS project, as well as in Madagascar and southern India.
