Major Research Interests
Our research activities aim at studying signaling pathways that control blood vessel growth and angiocrine functions and its implications on organ function. We focus on cardiac and skeletal muscle as well as solid tumors. Our laboratory has identified Delta/Notch signaling in the endothelium as key player of angiogenesis, barrier control, metabolism and metastasis. We aim at understanding how endothelial cells orchestrate inflammation and tumor progression. Secondly, we aim at understanding the roles of endothelial cells as organ-specific sensors of plasma metabolites and how this alters the transcriptional landscape and the functions of the endothelium.
