Amal joined CeMIS in March 2021 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Prior to this, she received her PhD in Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where her research focused on the microeconomics of information imperfections, learning, and agricultural development in South Asia and elsewhere. Amal's research combines empirical and theoretical development microeconomics, and her teaching experience includes graduate courses in mathematical economics, econometrics, and other courses. She also holds an MSc in Development Economics from SOAS, the University of London, and a BA in Economics and Black Studies from Amherst College in the United States.
