High Harmonic Generation

The high harmonic generation in a noble gas works with a portion of the amplified pulses from the Ti:Sapphire laser system (around 1 µJ). The existing set-up in the central lab consists of a generation chamber, where the laser pulses interact with the gas jet, and a dispersion-compensated grating monochromator to select the required harmonics. The available wavelengths range from 150 nm down to 12 nm.
It is planned to use the high harmonic radiation for static and dynamic coherent diffractive imaging (CDI), initially on solid test objects, and subsequently on optically excited liquid interfaces.
