Our Services

The Georg-August-University School of Science (GAUSS) is dedicated to support young researchers in their postdoc and late-stage PhD phase in pursuing a successful career inside or outside of academia.

Our GAUSS Career Service is offering a wide range of specifically tailored services to provide you with the best support possible including

• a workshop and seminar program with different topics (workshop program),
• individual counseling and advice as well as application and CV checks (more information),
• networking opportunities with other postdocs, e.g. at our Career Impulse Sessions,
• up-to-date funding opportunities with different schemes at a glance to support you in finding the best option to support your research career,
• list of nearly 50 trainee programs available at different companies,
• a monthly newsletter with announcements of upcoming workshops, events, funding and job opportunities (current newsletter),
• a blog on career-related events and relevant information (GAUSS Career Blog),
• regular email notifications of upcoming events and workshops.

Who is it for and how to access our services

Our services are primarily available to all postdocs in natural and life sciences who have a fixed-term contract or fellowship and are based at one of the faculties or research institutions within GAUSS (see here for the GAUSS Structure). Late-stage PhD students currently considering their next career steps are also very welcome to take advantage of our offers. Our mission

With our events we are aiming to take you a step further in your career development and support you in planning your career. A high quality of our program is very important to us and our goal is to maintain and improve it. We have an established evaluation system in place for all our workshops and are carefully selecting and continuously reviewing and adapting our workshop and event schedule to further tailor it to your needs. Since the early days of the career service, we received invaluable advice and impulses on the selection and concepts of events from senior academics with many years of experience in supporting junior scientists.
