Mandatory: Language and Culture

Experience an introduction to German language and culture (9 ECTS):

Select courses based upon your interests from our focus areas for at least 12 ECTS:

  • Data Science
  • Inequality/ Diversity

Feel free to take courses from one focus area or combine them with courses from our General Courses list. If you fulfil enough courses in one focus area, it will be stated in your official transcript.

SUSTAINABILITY

Get to know about fundamental concepts of the fair use of resources and its challenges on local and global scale. Deepen your knowledge about sustainability in the fields of agriculture, forestry or ecosystem management. Choose courses like bioclimatology and global change to understand relevant processes involving climate and climate change, as well as biogeochemical cycles, or engage in a critical debate on the role of food policies in shaping what we consume in the advanced course agriculture, nutrition and sustainable food systems.

DATA

Learn about concepts and techniques enabling new ways for generating, processing, structuring, and collaborating the use of data. Understand advantages and disadvantages of machine learning, get to know potentials and limitations of data visualization, solve practical data science problems or learn about mathematical models. Choose basic or advanced courses to learn about fundamental principles and current developments in data science.

DIVERSITY

Explore current trends in diversity and (in)equality research, including the concepts of chances and challenges in different dimensions. Currently, we offer courses from 2 different foci for advanced students: biodiversity in agricultural studies and cultural diversity in modern Indian studies. Select courses like biological control and biodiversity or microfinance of the rural poor, or concentrate on social-cultural anthropology, development economics or capitalism and social transformation in modern India.
