Talk "After Rana Plaza: Vulnerabilities and Capabilities of the Female Garment Workers of Bangladesh"

The Modern Indian History Research Group invites you to a talk by Samina Luthfa of University of Dhaka on Thursday, 6 November at 6 pm (Waldweg 26, room 2.112). Her paper examines the Rana Plaza Collapse event and factors leading to this incident. It explores the role of the state in the aftermath of collapse. The paper especially looks into the question of vulnerability of women RMG workers in the aftermath of the collapse. Samina Luthfa is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology, University of Dhaka. She holds a doctorate in Sociology from St Cross College, University of Oxford. Samina's doctoral work examined the transnational mobilisation against Phulbari coal mine in Bangladesh.
