Group mentoring for doctoral researcher

The central idea behind group mentoring is bringing together mentees so that they can collaborate and regularly exchange ideas and issues with a mentor. Groups of 4 mentees will meet at regular intervals – but at least once a month –to discuss their thoughts and concerns, thereby providing each other with mutual support. Within the context of these meetings, shared questions and topics are prepared for subsequent meetings with a mentor, which will take place every 6 to 8 weeks. The mentors represent professors at the University of Göttingen that are active in related fields of research, suited to the needs of the selected mentees in the program. These self-organized meetings are accompanied by further training measures provided within the framework program (Dates see right column).

Training
A focal point of the training program lies in the professional and personal advancement of the mentees. This includes training in enhancing team competency. The seminar is designed to foster team building within the framework of group mentoring and is provided to groups of four mentees at a time.

Networking
Within the framework of networking meetings and in cooperation with other institutions here at the University of Göttingen, the mentees will be provided with the opportunity to inform themselves on other topics that are career relevant and address questions pertaining to other spheres of life, including work-life balance.
