The Studentenwerk helps those interested in studying in Göttingen in finding a room or an apartment.
Dormitories
The Studentenwerk has about 5000 dormitory place in 52 buildings at its disposal. Applications and information may be obtained with the accommodation office of the Studentenwerk or from dormitory administration. The flyer ´Studying in Göttingen´ - available on request from Studentenwerk, Public Relations, Platz der Göttinger Sieben 4, 37073 Göttingen – by sending an enveloped stamped with € 1,44) and the flyer ´Renting´ are provided for your information.
Broker
We can also help you to find rooms or apartments on the free market, if you are willing to pay a € 5 fee (sorry, but written and telephone requests cannot be processed).
´Free Market´
There are information boards in the Mensa buildings where offers of rooms and apartments are posted. You can also consult the local newspaper – Göttinger Tageblatt – on Wednesday and especially on Saturday.
Registering your residence
Students moving into a room or an apartment in Göttingen, must register with the Alien Office within one week; this is also true for students matriculating for one semester. You need not change registrations on your car.
