Call for Applications

At the Faculty of Theology of the University of Göttingen,

3 doctoral positions (f/m/d) in Jewish Studies


are to be filled at the earliest possible date. The positions are remunerated according to pay grade 13 TV-L.

The two part-time positions (each with 50% of the regular weekly working hours, currently 19.9 hours/week) are limited to a duration of three years. One of the positions is funded by third-party resources and can be filled at 65% of the regular weekly working hours (currently 25.87 hours/week) initially until May 31, 2027. An extension is intended.

The positions are affiliated with the newly established Jewish Studies Institute at the University of Göttingen and offer excellent conditions for pursuing a doctoral degree in Jewish Thought or related fields within a dynamic and interdisciplinary academic environment.

We are looking for highly motivated early-career researchers with a strong academic background who wish to develop an independent and innovative PhD project in Jewish Studies. Applications from candidates with diverse academic profiles, research interests, and methodological approaches are explicitly encouraged.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent research with the goal of completing a doctoral degree
  • Actively contribute to the academic life and administrative tasks of the Jewish Studies Institute
  • Participate in ongoing research projects in the field of Jewish Studies


Requirements:

  • A completed university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Jewish Studies or a closely related field
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team
  • Proficiency in Hebrew
