System accreditation for the quality management system of the University of Göttingen

No. 44.5 - 22.12.2025

The Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency Hannover (ZEvA) has system-accredited the quality management system for studying and teaching at the University of Göttingen at the beginning of November. This gives the university the right to assess and review its degree programmes with the help of internal and external expertise for a period of six years in order to ensure the qualification objectives and quality standards of the degree programmes. Until 2031, the university can award the seal of the Accreditation Council on behalf of the latter and accredit its more than 200 degree programmes on its own responsibility.

"The system accreditation is an outstanding success for the University of Göttingen," says Professor Max Wardetzky, Vice President for Studies and Teaching. "This impressive result was only possible because the QM system was jointly established at the University of Göttingen. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all members of the university for this commitment."

The decision was preceded by two inspections, during which external reviewers were able to convince themselves of the university-wide understanding of quality and its implementation in the degree programs. "This is a great success and we will use it to further expand the high quality and, in particular, the attractiveness of our range of courses," said Wardetzky.
