Natalie Lang

Natalie Lang is a Ph.D. candidate in Social Anthropology in the CeMIS research group "Society and Culture in Modern India". She was awarded a Dorothea Schlözer PhD Scholarship by the University of Göttingen.

Natalie Lang’s research interests include religion, recognition, migration, diaspora, media, food, and emotions, with a regional focus on South India/South Asia and La Réunion/France. In her doctoral thesis, Natalie Lang examines how Hindu religion is negotiated in the French overseas department La Réunion in the Indian Ocean. She conducted 12 months of anthropological fieldwork in La Réunion.

Natalie Lang holds an M.A. in Migration and Diaspora Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and a B.A. in South Asian Studies from the University of Heidelberg.
