Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS)

Since September 2010, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports CeMIS within its program "A New Passage to India III". The most important element of the program is the academic exchange with Indian universities and research institutes. As a result, there is a continuous flow of visiting professors from India to CeMIS since 2010.

Moreover, the DAAD program supports young scholars and students during a stay abroad. Doctoral candidates from CeMIS are joining one of the partner universities (University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, University of Pune, Centre for the Study of Social Sciences Calcutta) for six months in order to work on their research projects. Students of the MA "Modern Indian Studies" are eligible to four months scholarships to study in India. Also, doctoral students from India do research for four to six months at CeMIS.

Each year, excursions for CeMIS students to Delhi or other parts of India that deal with the research foci of CeMIS and it's visiting professors are organised; each is supervised by one of the visiting professors.
