Who can participate in writing consultations?
All students at the University of Göttingen - regardless of subject area, language or writing experience.

What is a writing consultation about?
The aim is to strengthen your writing skills. This includes, among other things, making deliberate decisions about proceedings and forms of presentation.

What are typical topics in writing consultations?
What we discuss depends on your individual concerns. Frequent topics are: Time and work organisation, motivation management, finding and narrowing down topics, organising and structuring text, proceeding in the writing process, transition from reading to writing, making use of AI in an intelligent way.

Do I have to have already written something?
No. Even if you are still at the very beginning, a consultation can be helpful - e.g. in finding a topic.

In which languages does the writing consultation take place?
The language of the consultation is usually German and/or English. The text you are writing can also be in another language.

Will my text be proof-read and corrected?
No. We concentrate on your writing process. You may also receive feedback on text excerpts, which you can incorporate into your text yourself.

How quickly can I get an appointment?
The waiting time is usually at least one week – sometimes longer depending on demand.

Are there consultations during the lecture-free period?
Yes, there are usually also consultations during the lecture-free period. Current information can be found on our landing page.

Are there any costs for writing consultation?
No. Writing consultation is a service free of charge for students at the University of Göttingen.
