FRIDAY, 7 May 2021

09:30 – 10:15
Welcome and Introduction

10:15 – 12:45
Panel 0 – Where do we want to go? Concrete utopias of transformation actors from Hungary, Slovenia and Germany
Chair: Orsolya Zilahy

„"We have the right and the duty to change the world (...) But without dreams, utopias, ideas and projects, changing the world is unimaginable (...). Dreams are projects for which we fight (...) and their transformation into reality requires great effort (...)" (Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed/Pedagogy of Autonomy).

This panel is about summarising, describing and – if possible – visually depicting with maps the concrete utopias that the transformation actors are striving for. We want to look at the places of the future we want to reach in the three countries from a holistic perspective (social-ecological transformation). The hosts, the Verein zur Förderung der Solidarischen Ökonomie (Association for the Promotion of Solidarity Economy) and the Adam von Trott Foundation, will focus on internationalism, the Gólya and Kunbábony from Hungary will focus on the urban-rural connection, the contribution from Slovenia will focus on the resource transition and self-management, and in Hesse we will get a clear idea of how food sovereignty, diversity and ecology can go hand in hand with zero emissions and secure prospects for future generations in solidarity.

14:00 – 16:30
Panel I: Hungary-North Hesse: Social Solidarity Economy: Our Houses in our Territories are our Potentials

In this panel we will look at what of utopia is already there. The different projects and houses will be presented in their entirety - as interactively as possible, with lots of photos and graphics. We would like to learn more about the role of self-management and embedding in the local society/community as well as about perceived potentials and hurdles. Which concrete partners are missing? Which problems of own enterprises have solved social embedding or close cooperation with other institutions and groups?

Panel II: Hungary-North Hesse: Which forms of organisation and which cooperations have regional potential?

In Panel II, our aim is to learn about different forms of organisation between companies and other actors in the transformation using concrete examples. Here it is important for us to trace the reason for the emergence of the organisation and for the concrete form of organisation. We want to address the participating actors, the financing models, the sustainability of the organisational work and the cooperation with different governmental and non-governmental actors. What dangers, hurdles and potentials are perceived?

SATURDAY, 8 May 2021

10:00 – 12:45
Panel III: Solidarity('s)Knowledge

Panel III is about methods and strategies of knowledge production for and with self-managed enterprises that show a socio-ecological transformation. Here, too, we would like to learn about the reasons for the emergence/triggers, the sustainability of knowledge production, its financing and connection, how cooperation with universities works and how knowledge actually meets the needs of cooperatives and social solidarity economies in terms of knowledge production. How do contacts and incubation/advice/accompaniment come about and to what extent does an organisational structure of enterprises in the sectors or in the region emerge, which wants to control the pandemic and which purposefully approaches the ecological turn? We would like all our speakers to present a current research project and share their methods and approach.
