Students

Regardless of the programme country, a grant, so-called "Social Top Up", of € 250.00 per funded month can be awarded. All Social Top Ups can be combined with the Top Up Green Travel and the Top Up Outgoing Praktika.

The preliminary inquiry takes place during the application process (study semester als well internship). After successful application, nominated students will receive a link to an online form from the Göttingen International Department. You can use this form to apply for a top up by a specified deadline..

Students with disabilities and students planning to study abroad with child(ren) may alternatively apply for a "Realkostenantrag"

Top-up

  • The top-up is intended to support participants with a disability (starting from GdB 20) or chronic illness.
  • Regardless of the programme country, a monthly grant of €250 can be awarded
  • The application is made via an online form, which is sent in June by the International Office Göttingen to students nominated in due time. Application deadline: 15 June. Later applications will not be considered.
  • Not combineable with the top-up participants with child/ren, participants with a non-academic background oder working students.
  • Combineable with the top up Green Travel.
  • Combineable with the top-up Outgoing - Internship.

Application for funding (individual application)

  • Participants with a disability can submit an individual application..
  • Preparatory travel (incl. accompanying person) and additional costs incurred abroad during the mobility are eligible for funding up to €15,000/semester and €30,000/year respectively.
  • What is part of the foreign-related additional costs in the event of impairment?
    1. Travel costs: car costs, taxi costs, flight costs, train costs
    2. Accommodation: Rent
    3. Assistance: travel expenses, hourly wage, accommodation
    4. Medical advice
    5. Didactic material
  • Please take advantage of our advisory service. We will support you in the application process. The application for costs must be submitted by us to the National Agency (NA DAAD) 2 months before the start of the mobility.

Top-up

  • The top-up is intended to support participants who are planning to study abroad with a child.
  • An application is also possible if the partner is travelling with the child. The Top up can only be applied once per child (no double funding).
  • Parents who are planning to study abroad with at least two children can both apply for the top-up.

  • Not combineable with the top-up participants with child/ren, participants with a non-academic background oder working students.
  • Combineable with the top up Green Travel.
  • Combineable with the top-up Outgoing - Internship.
  • The Social Top Up is intended to support participants whose parents have not acquired an academic degree recognised in Germany (so-called "first-time graduates").
  • After a successful application, Erasmus+ participants are randomly asked to submit a sworn declaration from their parents.
  • Cannot be combined with other Social Top Ups for participants with disabilities, participants with child(ren) or working students.
  • The Social Top Up is intended to support employed participants who have been in regular employment subject to social security contributions for at least 6 months with monthly earnings of > 450,00 and < 850,00 € before the start of the mobility.
  • Please note: Employment during the Erasmus+ study period abroad is not permitted.
  • After a successful application, participants will be asked to submit proof of employment (e.g. salary slips) on a random basis.
  • Cannot be combined with other Social Top Ups for participants with disabilities, participants with children or first-time graduates.

Top-up

  • Participants with children can apply for a one-time grant of up to € 250.00 per mobility for childcare costs abroad (proof required). The prerequisite is that a grant has not already been applied for and approved elsewhere within the university.
