Learning outcome, core skills

After successful participation in the module, students are able to plan and implement project processes in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation independently and in interdisciplinary teams. Both classic management methods such as Gantt charts and agile methods such as Scrum are used. The focus is on organizing work in the form of work packages, the identification of required resources, and the successful achievement of milestones. Within the framework of these activities, the participants work in a team and assume different team positions. Finally, possibilities for target group-specific communication of project results are presented and practiced, e.g., via pitches.

Students further develop their tool and systemic competencies and improve crucial communicative skills in order to cooperate and convince even in highly uncertain situations, which characterize innovation processes and entrepreneurship. By working on complex and practical solutions to problems in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation, students not only expand their professional competencies, but also their interdisciplinary competencies.

Course: Seminar

Students develop their own innovative ideas, start-up projects, or work out innovative solutions to problems of existing companies using entrepreneurial methods. These projects are critically examined on the basis of project plans. The core functionalities of the possible project results are worked out and applied to prototypes. If possible, potential users should be actively involved in the project process and feedback should be collected.

1.Project and process management
Classical (e.g. Gantt charts) as well as agile project management methods (e.g. Scrum) will be discussed. Furthermore, the formulation of work packages and the development in sprints will be part of the course.

2.Prototyping
Students develop idea sketches and test scenarios. They learn about and select tools for the successful construction of prototypes. In addition, they learn about different ways to test prototypes.

3.Pitch Training
In the pitch training, target group-specific approaches to different stakeholder groups are practiced. The aim is to show how core messages can be presented simply and clearly. The focus of the presentation is on the delivery of the core messages.

Exam

Exam: Presentation (approx. 5 min., pitch) and written paper (max. 25 pages)

The presentation is to be made in the form of a pitch and includes the following components: Business Model Canvas, Pitch and Pitch Deck. The goal of the presentation is to convince potential investors and/or other relevant stakeholders.
The written paper demonstrates that students have methodological knowledge that helps them to plan and implement entrepreneurial projects independently and as part of a team. Furthermore, the course participants show that they have understood the interrelationships of a project process organized in work packages, considering the required resources on the basis of a milestone plan.
