Thomas Weitz

Weitzneu2
R. Thomas Weitz is professor of physics at the 1st Institute of Physics at the Georg-August University Göttingen, Germany. He has obtained his PhD at the Max-Planck-Institute for Solid State Research (MPI-FKF) in Stuttgart and after PostDoctoral stays at Harvard University and the MPI-FKF, has worked at BASF SE Ludwigshafen, Germany in organic electronics research. After a tenure-track professorship position at LMU Munich he moved to Göttingen in 2020. He is interested in the fundamental (opto)electronic properties of organic semiconductors and low-dimensional van-der-Waals materials where he also investigates correlated electronic phenomena. He is also intrigued by the fundamental questions related to energy conversion and dissipation in these novel materials.
