I am an Assistant Professor of Business Administration, specifically Information Systems with a focus on Enterprise Architecture. The design-oriented research paradigm characterizes my research. In addition, I use qualitative, conceptual, and occasionally quantitative research methods. My research focuses on Business Process Management (esp. Process Mining, Organizational Routines, Workarounds), the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative information systems (esp. Enterprise Information Systems, digital platforms, and Data Spaces), as well as the design, implementation, and management of digital service systems (esp. Smart Service Systems Engineering and Transformation, AI-based Service Systems, and Sustainable Service Technology).


My research results have been published in refereed international information systems journals, including the Information Systems Journal (ISJ), the European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE), and Electronic Markets (EM), and presented at all leading Information Systems conferences. In addition, I regularly serve as a Track Chair and AE and organize workshops and other formats. Furthermore, I am the current President of the Special Interest Group for Services (SIG SVC) in the Association for Information Systems (AIS), an Associate Editor in the BPM Department at BISE, and Editor of the Topical Collection on Digital Transformation and Service at EM. Since 2025, I have been a member of the Campus Institute Data Science (CIDAS) Göttingen.
