Research seminar "Fragmente des Glaubens" (Fragments of faith)

The research findings of the participants of the interdisciplinary seminar "Fragments of Faith", which was taught in the winter semester 2024/25 by Prof. Dr. Anne Greule (History of the Early and High Middle Ages) and Prof. Dr. Jens Scheiner (Islamic Studies), are now available on the Collections Blog of the SUB.

The seminar examined previously unidentified Latin and Arabic fragments from the Diplomatic Apparatus of the University of Göttingen, a collection of more than a thousand written artifacts of original sources used for teaching purposes. The Christian and Islamic text fragments were analysed with regard to materiality, provenance, content, and context.

The examined items could be identified as a glossed Bible, the collection of decretals of Pope Gregory IX, and a pocket Qur’an.
