Forum Wissen - Guided Visits

Forum Wissen is a public science‑communication hub located in the old zoology building of the University of Göttingen, adjacent to the main train station. It hosts interdisciplinary exhibitions, talks, workshops and interactive events that make cutting‑edge research from the university and the Max Planck Institutes accessible formats for visitors of all ages. The permanent exhibition Spaces of Knowledge features more than 1,400 objects drawn from the University’s diverse collections. As a gateway to Göttingen’s research landscape, Forum Wissen aims to spark curiosity and foster lifelong learning.

Because of the large number of interested participants, the guided visit will follow an open format to ensure maximum flexibility. Admission to Forum Wissen is free of charge, so spontaneous participation remains possible. Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed by museum communicators in the entrance area and accompanied in small groups to the cloakroom, where bags and backpacks (not permitted in the exhibition spaces for security reasons) can be stored.

In a larger room next to the cloakroom, groups of about 30 people will receive a brief introduction to the concept and content of the museum. From there, visitors are free to explore both the permanent exhibition and the special exhibitions What the Quant? and Magical! at their own pace.

In most rooms, a member of the museum’s communication team will be present. Whenever a group gathers, they will provide a brief three minute insight into that section before encouraging independent exploration with open questions.

Through the visit, the entire Forum Wissen team will be available to answer questions and support guests.
