Dr. Sarah L. Burns is a Senior Researcher and Group Leader in Forest Governance and Multilateralism at the University of Göttingen. With a background in Forestry from the National University of La Plata (Argentina) she holds a Ph.D. in Forest Policy from the University of Göttingen. Her Ph.D. work won the Outstanding Doctoral Research Award granted by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO). She has led and coordinated numerous international research projects funded by organizations including the DFG and BMBF. Dr. Burns has published extensively in leading journals on forest and environmental governance and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Forest Policy and Economics. She coordinates the IUFRO Unit 9.05 on Forest Policy and Governance and has extensive experience in research leadership, international collaboration, and postgraduate supervision.
