"From Immersion to Learning? Evaluating Objective and Subjective Outcomes in VR-Based Healthcare Training".
The paper received the Best Paper Award.

Abstract: Immersive virtual reality (VR) is increasingly used in healthcare education, yet evidence on its impact on measurable learning outcomes remains mixed. This study evaluates a configurable VR training system for intravenous infu-sion preparation using a quantitative pre–post design. Sixty-one participants completed objective knowledge tests before and after a single training ses-sion, along with measures of subjective learning and user experience. Alt-hough user evaluations were positive, no significant short-term gains in pro-cedural knowledge were observed, and perceived learning was not associated with objective improvement. These findings suggest that immersive design should be carefully aligned with evidence-based instructional principles and rigorous evaluation strategies in healthcare training.
