Research Interests
As part of the DFG project “Science and Power in Reforms of State Forest Organizations in Eastern Europe,” I am researching the impacts of forestry reforms in countries of the former Yugoslavia (e.g., Serbia and Slovenia). My focus is on knowledge transfer between research and practice: Using the Research-Integration-Utilization (RIU) model, I examine how scientific findings from research find their way into forestry practice. The RIU model not only allows for a nuanced analysis of knowledge transfer, but it can also be linked to the Actor-Centered Power (ACP) model; this allows for an analysis of the role of the interests and power resources of the actors involved. Methodologically, I combine qualitative interviews with quantitative surveys. The goal of my doctoral dissertation is to explain which factors significantly influence and shape knowledge transfer in forest policy.
