SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE “AUDIT GO!” PROJECT SEMINAR

How does an IT-supported financial audit work in practice? Students explored this question during the summer semester of 2026 in the “Audit Go!” project seminar, which was conducted in cooperation with PwC Hannover.

Using a real-world case study, the students worked through the various phases of a financial statement audit. Among other things, they examined risk analyses, management discussions, IT process audits, and control tests. The seminar also covered how to respond to identified risks of error, analytical audit procedures, and the conclusion of an audit.

The collaboration with PwC enabled the students to directly link theoretical content to the requirements of audit practice. Through the insights and guidance provided by the experts, they gained a realistic understanding of how financial statement audits are prepared, conducted, and documented, and what role IT systems play in this process.

Working in small groups, the students applied their knowledge to the case study and documented their findings in a project report. The seminar concluded on July 7, 2026, with group presentations in which the students presented and collectively discussed their findings.

The project seminar was offered by Prof. Dr. Christian Bartelheimer (Junior Professor of Enterprise Architecture) and Prof. Dr. Vanessa Flagmeier (Professor of Financial Accounting and Sustainability Reporting) in cooperation with PwC Hannover.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to PwC Hannover for the successful collaboration and the valuable practical insights, as well as to all the students for their great Engagement!
