Development of party systems in postsocialist countries. The polish case.

Abstract:

This project will examine the party development in postsocialist societies. Is there a specific postsocialist development in East Germany in spite of the implentation of the West German institutional order? To explore this, one can analyse the East-German case in middle position between West Germany and a country with similar experiences with communist dictatorship, like Poland. Are there similiarities between the appearance of East German parties and the Polish party system, the East German and Polish party organizations and between East German and Polish voting behaviour? And if, do they proof the existence of a specific postsocialist development due to the common past and the experience of system-change?
