Advice on 'special personal situations' that trouble academic success

We define 'special personal situations' primarily as having experienced lasting impairments or sudden events that have a negative impact on your academic success.

Special situations can include chronic diseases or psychological impairments such as dyslexia or exam nerves as well as personal and family issues, eg. childcare, nursing family members or coping with the death of a friend or family member.

We do not offer psychological councelling, and in this sense, our assistance is limited. Nevertheless we will try to support you in re-introducing you to your studies. We can show you different ways to resolve issues with the Examination Regulations, or ideally, how to prevent getting into trouble with it. Above all, we will direct you to an appropriate contact to provide the support you need.

Please note that it is important to contact us as early as possible, as opportunities to help you become more limited the less time we have. In particular, if you have an issue within the examination period, it is important to contact us or the Examination Office (Prüfungsamt) as soon as possible.
